Train to Machu Picchu
There is no road to Machu Picchu. The train takes you to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), the town at the foot of the citadel, and from there a short bus climbs to the entrance. You pick the exact departure, at the fare Inca Rail publishes that day.
Good to know
- From Cusco it is bus plus train on one ticket; from Ollantaytambo the train leaves directly.
- Inca Rail classes: The Voyager, The 360°, The Prime and The First Class, depending on the departure.
- You choose the day: the outbound train up to 3 days before your visit, if you want to sleep in Aguas Calientes, and the return up to 3 days after.
- Price per person and per leg, taken live from the operator. It is held for 30 minutes while you pay.
