Machu Picchu ticket prices 2026: every route, adult and child, and what the number really includes

There are eleven official tickets and three price levels. The confusing part is not the ticket — it is everything around it: the bus, the guide, the fee, the child rule. This page lists what we charge for each route and what you will still pay on the day, so the total on your card matches the total in your head.

All 11 tickets at a glance

Prices are per person in US dollars. Children are travelers aged 8 to 17 on the day of the visit; the sanctuary does not sell a separate infant ticket through us. The table hydrates from our live catalog, so it is always the price you will see on the ticket page.

Why there are three price levels

  • $62 — city and platform routes: Circuit 1B (both panoramic platforms), 1C (platforms plus the Intipunku trail), 1D (platforms plus the Inka Bridge), 2A and 2B (the Inka city), 3B (the lower royal sector) and 3D (lower sector plus Huchuypicchu). Same price whether the route lasts 2 h 30 or 4 h.
  • $78 — the mountain climbs: Circuit 1A (Machu Picchu Mountain, up to 7 h inside), 3A (Huayna Picchu, up to 6 h) and 3C (Gran Caverna, up to 7 h, high season only on the official map). These have the smallest daily quotas and are the first to sell out.
  • $245 — Circuit 3B Premium: The 3B route with a licensed bilingual guide for the 2 h 30 visit and flexible entry between 6 AM and 3 PM instead of a fixed time slot. It is the option we point to when the standard tickets for a date are gone.

What the price includes — and the 5% we add

Every ticket price includes the official Ministry of Culture entrance for that route, the QR code sent to your email, and free rescheduling up to 24 hours before the visit, subject to availability. At checkout we add a service fee of 5% of the ticket subtotal — on a $62 ticket that is $3.10, for a total of $65.10 — and we show it as its own line before you enter your card. That fee is what covers the cost of processing international cards; there is no other charge from us at any point.

Why not buy from the Ministry directly? You can, and the face value is lower. What you are paying us for is the part the official channel does not do well for a foreign card and a foreign phone: a checkout in English without an account, availability you can actually see, and a person in Cusco on WhatsApp if something goes wrong. If none of that is worth a few dollars to you, the official portal is the right choice.

What you still pay on the day

  • The bus up to the gate: Aguas Calientes to the entrance and back is $24 per adult, round trip, bought on site. You can also walk up in about 90 minutes.
  • The licensed guide: The sanctuary requires visitors to go in with a licensed guide. We can add one at checkout for $35 per person; the 3B Premium ticket already includes it.
  • Getting to Aguas Calientes: Train, or the road-and-walk route via Hidroeléctrica. Not part of any ticket; we compare every option in How to get to Machu Picchu from Cusco.

A worked example for two adults and one child

Circuit 2A for two adults and one child aged 12: $62 + $62 + $39 = $163 subtotal. Service fee 5% = $8.15. Total charged to your card: $171.15. On the day, add the bus ($24 × 3 = $72) and, if you add a guide through us, $35 × 3 = $105. The complete cost of the visit, without transport to Aguas Calientes, is about $348 for the three of you.

Is there a student discount?

Not through us. We sell the adult fare and the child fare (ages 8–17). If you hold a valid student card and want the Ministry's student rate, that purchase has to be made through the official channel with the card presented at the gate.

Do children under 8 pay?

We do not sell a ticket for children under 8. Ask us on WhatsApp before booking and we will tell you how the sanctuary handles your child's age on the day.

Is the price the same every day of the year?

Yes. Our prices do not change by season or by day of the week. What changes is availability: the mountain routes and Circuit 2A disappear first on peak dates.

Are tickets refundable?

Once issued by the Ministry, no. You can reschedule up to 24 hours before the visit, subject to availability, and we will help you find a date.

Prices are the easy part. Dates are not.

Every ticket above links to a calendar with real availability by entry time. Pick the route, pick the day, and the total you see before paying is the total you pay.
