- Ride apps: Uber states that it picks up at Cusco airport around the clock, at the pickup zones its app indicates. Useful if you have mobile data on landing.

Your first day at altitude
Cusco sits well above 3,000 m. Peru's Ministry of Health advises going up gradually, eating light during the first 24 hours and not self-medicating, and asks children, older travelers, pregnant women and people with heart or lung conditions to take extra care. Some travelers spend their first night in the lower Sacred Valley for that reason and come back to Cusco later; Machu Picchu itself is lower, at 2,430 m.

The airport is inside the city, a short drive from the historic center.
Can I take an Uber from Cusco airport?
Uber states that it picks up at Cusco airport at any time, at the pickup zones shown in its app.
Is the Chinchero airport open?
No. In January 2026 the Ministry of Transport expected it to operate at the end of 2027 or early 2028.
