The Sun Gate (Intipunku): the Inca Trail's arrival view, without the trek

For four days, Inca Trail hikers walk toward one moment: stepping through the Sun Gate and seeing the city below. You can stand in the same spot with a day ticket. Here is how.

The ticket: route 1C

Route 1C enters through the upper sector, reaches the panoramic platforms — the classic postcard view — and then takes the trail east to the Sun Gate and back. It is about an hour each way from the platforms on a gentle but exposed path, with up to 4 hours inside, for $62 per adult. Entries run from 7 to 10 AM.

Route 1C does not enter the urban sector of the city. If you want the temples too, you need a second ticket for Circuit 2 or 3 on the same or another day.
