The Inca Bridge: Machu Picchu's back door, on a cliff

West of the city a narrow path clings to a sheer rock face, and in the middle of it a gap was spanned by timbers that could be pulled away. It is one of the quietest spots in the sanctuary. Here is the ticket that gets you there.

The ticket: route 1D

Route 1D enters through the upper sector, reaches the panoramic platforms with the classic view, and then follows a short, mostly flat signposted trail west to the Inca Bridge viewpoint. It allows up to 3 hours inside, for $62 per adult, with entries from 7 to 10 AM. It is one of the least crowded photo spots in the sanctuary.

Can I cross the Inca Bridge?

No. You see it from a viewpoint at the end of the trail.

Does route 1D visit the city?

No. Circuit 1 routes stay on the upper platforms and their trails. For the temples you need a Circuit 2 or 3 ticket.
